You ever wonder why we're here?

In this article, let's (kind of) talk about why I made this blog.

You ever wonder why we're here?

If you don't know this quote, I highly recommend checking out Red vs Blue from Rooster Teeth. Without aging myself too much, this series and the community around it played a huge part in helping me explore and understand the world as someone who didn't always connect with people.

..but on to the main topic

The TL;DR is that I wrote this blog because I figure I’m fortune to have access to a good therapist and support systems, so why not process my thoughts about my place is society out loud in case it can help someone else. It’s a log of my evolution and some archive of the trials and tribulation I think about on a regular basis.

*** I’ve been struggling a lot with the expectations the world has for me and the reality of how broken my life is before I even get to letting those people down. The world is hard enough without discussing in the daily struggles of dealing with mental and physical disabilities. The world was not made for us. Instead, modern society has to work to undo the centuries of the expectation that people like us wouldn’t be acknowledged or likely even exist. It would a lie if I said, that thoughts like these don’t happen and that they take me to a dark place. Wondering how do I get out of the struggle and how much the effort is worth it. However, every day I’m around, I find something new and fascinating about the world and also a new reason to be grateful for the experience. If you are struggling, please know you are not alone and that there are people all around the world who you can talk to for support. Over the weekend, I was listening to the dear millennial podcast and found myself connecting with this idea of “I’m already going to have to do the work to survive in modern society, so why not share it with the world in case it can help anyone.”  So for those of us that struggle with the world because it wasn’t made for you, I’m here to experience the world alongside you and excited to see where we end up.

PS, if you can’t tell my Autism said be direct and my ADHD had a crap ton of stories I wanted to tell you. With time I’ll work on making this blog more readable, but thanks for patience until then!
